Friends of the Chapel

chapelvWho are the Friends of The Chapel at Bishop Street?

Over the 198 years since the Chapel was built, Bishop Street Methodist Church has needed many friends to support and develop its work and facilities. From its Town Hall Square location and elegant Georgian facade the Church has always played a key role in enhancing the community life of the city.

We give thanks to our many friends, from all walks of life, for all that has been achieved as the Church has sought to live out the Christian message of love and service.

As we press forward with plans for a redevelopment and refurbishment of the Chapel buildings, we need friends like never before. Our vision is for a café, exhibition, performance and meeting venue which:–

  • promotes  community values
  • challenges society’s failings
  • encourages creativity and artistic expression
  • cherishes our heritage
  • maintains a Christian presence in the heart of the city

If you share this vision you are already a friend of The Chapel.  If we are to achieve this vision we need your active support. Please consider becoming a signed up Friend of The Chapel at Bishop Street.
