All Saints’ Churchyard

All Saints’ Churchyard

Leicester has a number of ‘lost’ churches, buildings that gradually fell out of use and are remembered, if at all, only by street names; for example, St. Peter’‘s Lane, off Highcross Street. It was once assumed that the church of St Michael stood near Causeway Lane, but detailed historical research has shown that it most likely stood east of All Saints’. It may even be possible that the large churchyard of All Saints’, here photographed from the east, covers some of the land of St Michael’s church.
