There are all kinds of ways you can help ... some simple, some a little more demanding, all appreciated!
We have a volunteering policy, an agreement with each volunteer, time is recorded and references are given after 3 months of regular volunteering.
It's a great feeling to help others and it's what God asks of us .... to love God and to love our neighbour as ourselves.
If you're interested in any of these opportunities please contact the church office and ask to speak with Rev'd Liam Dacre-Davis.
Street Pastors operate from the church office. They offer practical and often much welcomed friendly support to young people and others on a weekend evening. See their website.
If you could spend some Sat mornings training and then offer a minimum of one night (9.30 pm – approx 3.00 am) each month then this is a great way to spend Friday or Saturday nights sharing your Christian faith in practical ways.
We are developing more and more art and music workshops, concerts, exhibitions and events as part of our celebration of life. Let us know if this is your passion too as there are plenty of ways of helping.
Why don't you come and help out by offering drinks and a friendly chat to those who come to our buildings for a whole range of activities. There are various groups that need this kind of help and we can put you in touch.
We are going to start some regular events for our older members. Some will need transport. To help you will need to have your own car and a CRB check, but we can get that for you (the check not the car!).
Could you help us support people with social needs who come through our doors? Loneliness, homelessness, asylum issues, mental health problems are all part of life and we can help just by knowing how to respond. This work is good experience and very rewarding and we need people willing to offer 3 hours each week.
When you come why not bring a bag and ask to take home some of our recyclable paper, plastic, or cardboard, for your compost bin, or for a recycle bin near you?
We have to try and keep our costs down so we do most of our own cleaning and gardening. If you could offer a few hours a week, or even an hour a month please let us know. An undemanding way of making friends for life!
There are often little jobs we need doing... please tell us if you might be able to help
We offer a lot of practical care – visiting, doing odd jobs, asylum support, prayer.
If you'd like to help in our church's life by becoming a pastoral carer, and if you are a church member, then please have a word about this very rewarding work.
Can you chat for England? We're looking for people who are ready and able (or would like to become ready and able!) to share their faith with others through conversation – in the premises at Open Church, or in other venues around the city centre. Training will be offered.
If you have other skills which haven't been mentioned but which you would like to talk to us about – come and see us.
