To accompany December 14th's performance of Handel's Messiah, there will be an exhibition of photos of anyone with a family edition of Handel's Messiah they may have, or other memorabilia.
Come to the church on Tues 12 November, 2-4pm, or on Weds 13 November, 6-8pm to have your photograph taken with any memorabilia you have. You may have a photo or programme notes of when you or a family member sang in a performance of the Oratorio.
It was sung several times here at Bishop Street. Fran remembers in the late 1980's an official from the World Council of Churches describing Handel's Hallelujah Chorus as the unofficial continental anthem of much of Africa. Prof Clive Marsh refers to it in his new book, "A Cultural Theology of Salvation" as a 'popular classic'.
